I'm considering using vinyl wrap on the engine side of my firewall. Is this acceptable? Has anyone done this. I could also paint. Is this acceptable?

I have the engine, mount and everything else off the firewall. I have done a small test area with vinyl wrap and it works pretty good. the rivets present a problem but I pricked small holes with a needle around them and used a small rubber hose to force the vinyl over the rivets. The appearance is really nice.

Thanks,

Gary Ward

I don't know if it's acceptable, but I'd be concerned about flammability, especially with the primer line and the gascolator right there.

I suspect that paint would hold up better long term?? I used to manage a shop that was a Cirrus Service Center and we delt with many aircraft with vinyl trim just on the exterior of the aircraft. I would never select vinyl over paint. Unless........the process AND product has improved in the last 6 years since I left.
