WTB: Beacon Flasher

Post by bill y »

I am searching for a beacon flasher for my '46 120. It has an Aeroflash bulb and only flashes it's NOT a rotating beacon. It was missing from my plane when I purchased it a year ago and I'm about ready for the first inspection/annual since it's last log book entry in 2006. I'm not sure what it's even supposed to look like and the one's on eBay look like a heat sink...
Thank you in advance

Is it a bulb or a flash tube? A picture might help.

What you have is probably the old AEROFLASH system that used a bulb, no strobe, and a flasher and was mounted on the vertical fin of Cessnas for years. An inexpensive way of meeting required beacon spec, simpler installation, etc.
Check Spruce for P/N 156-0003, AEROFLASH flasher and associated verbiage - looks like you may upgrade to a double flash.

I can't seem to find a flasher for this bulb that can handle 125 watts. Does anyone offer an LED bulb that can be hardwired to my 12 volt system without a separate flashing unit or something fair priced that will work? I actually bought a Cessna flashing unit from eBay but it seems to be for position lights that are way less wattage. It says it can only handle 3 watts max..... back on eBay it will go along with the Aeroflash $50 bulb.....

I'd contact Aero-Lites (Georgia LED seller/distributor -- https://www.aero-lites.com) They're super helpful and have available an incredible catalogue of LEDs for all sorts of applications. While primarily for "experimental" aircraft use, they're well known for offering advice for installs and some counsel re "approvals" accomplishment for certified ship use. (I'm not in any way involved with Aero-Lites, but am a satisfied customer.) Mac
