140A Door stop

Post by 8474 »

Hi all,

The left side door stop that is riveted to the bottom of the wing is broken off on my airplane. I have gone thru the A model parts book and I can't seem to find it shown anywhere, am I missing it somehow? Anyone know where I can find one?

Thanks

Yes, early Cessna 150's utilized the same set up.

Ok, I was able to find it in my 140A parts book. It was not shown on the wing with a reference number but was shown in the parts list. Part # 0426513

If I Google that part number it only comes up with 0426513-3 and those pictures look slightly different from what mine looks like and the asking prices seem a bit high ($175) I would think it might be fairly easy to fab one out of mild steel as I have the right side one for a pattern.

There's one on Ebay...item # 223961626637. Asking is $48 + shipping...seems kinda expensive to me...but, comparing to $175 it may not be  . It is used, however, so buyer beware...does have good photos on Ebay ad & looks pretty good. (Also, a couple more are on Ebay...both asking $110 -- all appear serviceable.) Mac

Thanks for the link but those ones look different than what I have, I suspect that may be from a later model 150, maybe thats where the -3 part number comes in. I'm really think I might have to fab one, which won't be too hard and from the looks cheaper.

Cheaper sure sounds better, 'cause it only seems to get worse: Hill (Cessna Dlr., Atlanta) has the -3 part which is the superseded # -- their price is $320.67 :? . I'm still confident that "somewhere" out there there's a serviceable "used" one at a reasonable price. Good luck with the search...or fabrication. Mac

Yeah, can you believe they can ask $320 for that little piece of tin?

I had ones called “sky catch”. They screw on to the outside of the door. Work really nice. They were advertised in the 120/140 newsletter several years ago. Mine have given me no problems in 15 years.

Is this the "Sky Catch" that you are referring to?
