Re: ADS-B rebate

I replaced my Narco 50 transponder with a Stratus ESG. I had reserved the rebate around the end of March for a mid April install. I picked up my 120 on 30 April and did my validation flight in the local class C, then submitted for the rebate. I got an approval the next day and the check came in yesterday. Surprisingly quick and painless process.

I was able to reserve one of the leftover rebates today. Got lucky I guess, I've failed the last 3 weeks. It makes you select which hardware you plan to use. I really want to use the tailbecon but I'm not sure I can wait any longer for it. I selected the GDL82, hopefully if the tailbecon comes out I can switch the selection on my rebate, we'll see. If not, I guess I'll just have to go with the GDL82, I already have a GTX327 so it's probably the best option anyways.

A GDL82 and a 327 will make a great combination.

I saw somewhere to check the FAA website for ADSB rebates on Wednesdays to see if any had become available due to errors on previous requests.

Do a little digging and you may get lucky.

YES, keep checking, even though all the rebate slots are taken, not everyone ends up using their slot times for one reason or another. We had two customers "get a rebate" slot in the last 2 months or so.

After a month of trying, I finally snagged one of the returned rebate slots this past Wednesday. Should’ve bought a lottery ticket too 🤷🏻‍♂️

I just read in an article in AOPA Pilot that they release any expired, unused rebates at 1:00 PM Eastern time on Wednesdays.

That is correct, that's how I got mine, by hitting refresh on the browser enough times and getting lucky  Although my request went through 2 min before the hour.
