I'm sure all the 140A folks know this, but according to the STC approved model list, the 140A is not included.

Big Pro...weight savings.

Potential Con...lithium type batteries tend to suffer shortened lives when left fully charged all the time. I reduce my RC plane lipos to a storage charge of approximately 3.85V/cell when not in use to maximize their life. I-phones have a setting for optimized charging where the phone waits to charge above 80% until it thinks you will need it also to maximize long term battery life. If I was to put an Earth-X battery in my plane I would want to try to figure out a way to drop it to a storage charge in between flights and then fully charge it prior to flying because at $700+ for the battery I would want the most life possible out of it. With that said...if these batteries prove a 10yr or so life in the field, my worries above would not really matter. The long life would more than offset the cost especially considering the weight savings.

I would highly recommend removing your battery box and installing an odyssey with its box. This will save you about 10 pounds over a concord and the factory box, and cost less than $300. For $700 that battery better fly my plane for me. Is another 8 pounds worth another $400? I guess for some. If you were moving it to the firewall that would be a huge motivator but back in the tail - I’ll pass.

I put the EarthX in last fall. 18 lbs lighter. I used one of the EarthX mounts mounted inside the battery box. Had to rewire the leads to the solenoid. The terminals ended up oriented 180 degrees from the old Concorde RG25. Ran a wire along the routing of the main cable for the warning light in the panel.
