O-200 SA267SW STC in Germany/Europe

Post by bus-driver »

Good Morning,

I'm interested in buying a November registered C140 here in Germany. It has an O-200 installed with the SA267SW STC. Unfortunately there seems to be no European or German equivalent to any of the O-200 STCs.
Is there anyone in here that went through that process with the LBA or any other European Administration?

Is there a way to get the real technical information on the STC (drawings etc.)?

Best regards from Germany

I take it that if you purchase it you would need to change to German registration.
Do you know for sure that they will not accept it with the modification even though it is fully approved by our FAA with the STC?
Usually most countries accept FAA approval at face value.

That’s S & S Pipeline Patrol’s STC, and unfortunately I don’t think that they’re in business anymore. Therefore, any information from S & S may not give you anything.

It might help you to contact Randy Thompson in California. Randy has an active STC for the 0-200 conversion in the Cessna 120/140/140A series, and could possibly help you with obtaining the information you need. Contact me via private message on this site, and I will pass along his contact information to you.

Mike

Mikrofon

Yup, I saw that too John, but already had posted it. Makes for a good laugh though, that Google translator sometimes takes it literally haha.

Thanks for your replies.

I now got an answer from the German authority LBA.
They are willing to validate the STC if the STC-holder sends an informal Vadiation-Request. It costs 300€ but i’d be willing to cover that.
The problem will probably be, that the STC-holder is no longer in business or did “Randy” or anyone else buy the STC?
I don’t think that any O-200 STC will do the trick, as the aircraft is currently certified with the S&S STC. So i think I’ll need a contact to the holder of this STC.

Rick, I do not need to put it on a German registration, I fly a lot of N-reg planes in germany but my wife wants to do her training on that plane and that’s only possible if it’s registered in Germany.

My O-200 STC is SA547EA. I thought it might be a new version of the S&S but I am still reviewing to see if it is.
