The Good:

Never leaves me stranded. I have owned the plane for 2.5 years. Flown it 450 hrs, with oil changes every 25 hours. Daily driver all year round. It has surfed the Kenai Peninsula, ice climbed in the Chitistone Valley, sheep hunted the Eastern Alaska Range, fished the Klutina River, and on and on. Always comes home and burns less the 5 gph doing so! BTW, this O200A loves regular unleaded autogas…which is what I use 100% unless I’m away from home.

The 120 is a delightful flyer, very light on the controls, great in stiff crosswinds 20KTS+…

The Needs (Not Bad):

-Nothing! Very comfortable day/night VFR machine.

-Firewall mounted battery (if you care). When the electrical was re-done, I had stripped EVERYTHING! Including the 40LBS of battery in the back and the 2ga wire running the length of plane. In the interim, I use a very lightweight battery but not certified. The plane is certified for no electrics, so I simply remove it during annual inspection, no problem.

-If you add a lighweight starter you will want to add the firewall mounted battery

The UGLY:

In September ’18, I had bad hangar rash…upper cowl was run over! FA Dodge replaced one hinge and most formers. It is solid, but not nearly as pretty as it once was…in the long term I was gonna do a Cessna 150 exhaust upgrade and at same time have the upper/lower cowlings re-worked.

Bottom Line:

Sweet plane for novices and experts alike, but I’m moving on to a Super Cub (ugh..)…only wish I had a hangar and that I could fit 2!
