I turned on the master and got no power, so took out battery and fully charged it but still no power. Any suggestions? Any common problems. I own a 1946 Cessna 140 with a C90 engine (Alternator).

I would check the battery solenoid which should be mounted on the aft side of the battery box. Give it a couple of taps with the handle of a screwdriver and see if that helps. They can stick sometimes.

This is the old style solenoid and it's on the back of your battery box, it should 'click' when you turn on the master switch. If you don't hear anything then check it for corroded contacts. It's fairly simple.

Thank you gentlemen. We did that and no luck so we (me and my A&P) have concluded the selonoid needs to be replaced.

That's what I ended up doing....make sure your master switch ground is working first but it's a pretty easy install for the replacement.

Me too. After all, the original is over 70 years old...

David,
I like the aviation ruler. It seems like a vintage piece. Would you have a full picture of it? Just curious. 8-)

AOPA used to send one out every year when you renewed. Over the years there have been a few "updates", but they're all similar. If you want one I'm sure I have a spare I could send you. (Don't everyone else respond with "me to," please.)
