Original Battery Box Installation

Post by 4290 »

Hello! Does anyone happen to have pictures of a very original battery box and installation? Figure 25 of the parts book shows the battery cables and solenoid on the front (forward) side of the box, but it seems like every installation I have seen has the cables and solenoid in the back (aft). Similarly, most of the battery boxes that I have seen with a hinged lid (like the one in the parts book) have the taller bottom side in the back vs. in front as depicted in the parts book.

Thanks in advance!

This post shows the front and back of the battery box. The hinges on the front near the bottom do not have hinge pins. AN clevis pins are used to secure the box closed. The back of the box (high side, third photo) shows the mounting holes for the master solenoid and the holes for the cables.

Looking closely at the IPC picture the arrow for the inset is pointing at the back side of the battery box installation.

I assume they used artistic license to turn the picture around for clarity for how the solenoid is mounted along with the wiring.

Just a guess.
