Anybody know who re-works carburetor air boxes? Mine (for C-85) has an overhaul kit installed but needs a new "flapper" welded to the shaft. Thanks for replies!

Julian Aircraft, Holt, FL did mine -- quality work, quick turnaround and it's functioned as new. Tom Julian is a member. He's in the M'ship book, but PM me if you need contact info..Mac

I had to do a similar repair some years back, and I used Dawley Aviation because they had welded some heater system parts for me. I think the charge was $75 plus shipping.

Here''s the instruction I provided Dawley Aviation to weld the butterfly valve to the shaft of the McFarlane Airbox Kit.

Aren't the two holes on the rear of the box for the bracket on the oil tank baffle?

I asked about the oil tank shroud for the O-200A when Thompson Air built my engine in January 2008 for use under STC SA547EA, and my notes from the conversation indicate that the oil tank shroud is not used for the 6 quart oil tank on the O-200. Page 9 of Neal Wright's O-200 article from 2005 also mentions this, i.e.,

"The O-200 oil tanks do not have similar shrouds but the air through the oval holes past the galleries and around the oil tank is important, so make sure the oval holes are properly flex baffled as well to fill the gap to the cowl."

However, the STC for the O-200 install on C120/140 does require addition of a cowling doubler PN 0452208 for increased air flow through the lower cowling.
