Just a question for those, who pull there Cessna 140's by the tail what type of puller are you using they have tail wheel pullers on Aircraft Spruce's site, but they are pricy, we used to use at a club I belonged to a tail wheel hook that hooked over the the arms of the tail wheel that hooked to the rudder springs, and we used it for years but Im sure it wasn't good for it.

Agreed that the Taildragger Dragger is expensive. But it works well and you only buy it once.

I cannot imagine pulling the airplane by the tailwheel steering assembly. That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

I have a tailwheel tow bar. They were available from Wag Aero. Not sure if ACS has them now. I don't use it very often. I just loop a rope around the tail spring, break the tailwheel free and pull it around that way. Another loop in the free end (tie a bowline) makes a good handle. Cheap and effective.

Yeah, they do, and boy have the prices gone up! I think it was about $50 when I got it.

Yes the tail wheel tow rigs are quite a bit from ACS, I think I like the idea of just rapping a rope around the tail spring and pull it. Not the best but it will work, when I belonged to a group that had a C140 someone in our group bought a pull out handle that was placed on the side of the fuselage , and it worked quite well , I do not know where it was purchased from though.

That handle is from B.A.S.

More expensive than the tow bar, but those that have the handle mod installed say it’s really nice.

Can confirm that his handle is well worth it. A previous owner installed it in my plane and it is a huge help. One of the best quality-of-life mods you can make.

We used the towing strap method when we first got the C120. Then, my wife got me a Taildragger Dragger and I have not regretted having it ever. At $268, it's more affordable that the handle ($365+installation), and you don't need an A&P to assemble it. ;)
