Color of original gear legs and struts

I'm refinishing both my gear legs and struts on my '47 140. What color were the original legs and struts? On mine, somebody rattle-canned some sort of grey and its quite ugly. Ive been considering using a polished-aluminum enamel (to match my polished fuselage), or a gun-metal gray (non-metallic). Just wondering what was "original"?

Paint color was a Gull Grey

Per Cessna -

"Gull Grey #125 Enamel shall be used on the main landing gear spring”

Check with a Dupont Imron paint dealer for Dupont Imron 55137u which is a Gull Grey that the folks over at the C-170 Association say is a direct match.
