I flew today, and on shutdown my RPM raised 50-60 rpm as it shut down. O-200 with a Marvel carb.

That's my ultimate goal, I'm at sea level here in Vancouver WA. We will monitor things and then slowly bring the adjustment back a little leaner, probably 1/8 turns at a time, baby steps. I'm just thrilled it's running cooler now.

Is your engine producing more power now than it was before the overhaul? If so, that alone could account for the increase in cylinder head temps.

If your oil temp is good and your baffling is in good shape I wouldn't worry about it.

John,

You are probably right, and I don't land at airports much higher than 3,000' around here. Yes, the engine is definitely putting out more power!

I am paying attention to details that most of us don't even bother with- rpm rises, CHT's, idle circuits, it is all just plain interesting to me. Keeps my mechanics on their toes also. I like the learning process...
