C-140 Brakes and installation of Wheel Skirts and Brackets

Post by 140jockaholic »

Hello, just joined the Association and was curious if someone could advise me on the installation of C-140 Wheel Skirts and the mounting brackets. I have the Wheel Skirts and just obtained the mounting brackets $$$ for my 140 with Cleveland Brakes. The brackets arrived and they appear to be for a 140 with Cleveland Brakes mounted on the front of the wheel and brake disk, mine are mounted on the back of the wheel and brake disc. I am curious if the Cleveland Brakes can be mounted either way, front or back? Thank you for any input. John

They can be installed either way but look best at the rear. I don’t see how the original wheel pant brackets could be modified for a front facing attachment.

Thanks for the reply and info, my understanding is that the140 Brackets I bought came off of a parted out 140, the seller is reputable I believe, when I tried to install them they clearly were not going to work with my Cleveland Calipers which are mounted to the rear of the wheel. I was puzzled and did some research and have viewed numerous pictures of 140's with front wheel mounted Calipers and wheel pants. These brackets are certainly appear to be for a front mounted set of Calipers. I attached a picture.
Likely they brackets are modified different brackets from another model possibly. I am sending back for a refund and guess I will keep searching,
Thank you for the info....

OK, are they pants or skirts? :D :) I'm confused.

I did have to modify the brackets to fit my rear facing Cleveland brake calipers. Very easy to do. I’ll try to post a picture.

My 140A has wheel pants and front-mounted Cleveland McCauley brakes, which work great, perhaps the issue is only cosmetic?
