Yoke Change

Post by cess140 »

My pretzel type yokes are beyond restore I think. I see that some seem to be using 150 yokes to replace. At least that’s what it looks like. What are my choices?

New yokes (OK, not new as in made last week) are available from Univair (pn 52055-6). They are bored for a larger shaft (Ercoupe), but if your hubs are in good shape you can just swap the pretty parts. You will need to pull one of the taper pins out. I have fabricated bushings and pressed them into the Ercoupe size hubs and it works perfectly, too, but then you will have to drill new holes for the taper pins. Impossible to match the existing holes in the shafts, but you have two more possible places to drill.

If you are not into originality here are my 337's for my 150 yokes, done by a distant previous owner.

If you are more into proper original stuff then listen to John Cooper, he knows his stuff.

Anything can be restored I'm doing a set with John C's parts now but it is a procedure. We also have "D" style yokes that would work for you?
