Re: Window latches

The FAA would call it a minor alteration and it would require an A&P to sign it off.

What I was attempting to point out was that there is a list of things the FAA allows pilots to do and sign off.

Funny the FAA does not consider preventive maintenance, "maintenance" their definition is:

"Preventive maintenance means simple or minor preservation operations and the replacement of small standard parts not involving complex assembly operations".

As I mentioned previously, please ask for the assistance of an A&P to walk you through the steps to complete the project properly.

Thanks,

Rick

All good discussion regarding sign-offs and 337s.

What I want to know is - what happened with the original idea of a replacement that resembles the original latch? :)

Univair already supplies a PMA approved replacement for the original latch; it's just obscenely expensive...

I am still working this. I am in the midst of a move from AZ to Louisiana but When I get settled I will continue with the project. Thanks for your understanding.

I am interested. Had a fastener pop out on me in flight once, and left me clueless as to the hardware required to fasten the window to the latch.

Are these latches still available? If so, I would love a pair.

Thank you
