I just bought a 140 and I find that the brakes are a little weak. Does anyone know of an upgrade to them? I have a disc brake system but was wondering if perhaps Grove or Cleveland had an upgrade.

Most disk conversions on 120/140s are Cleveland. There are a few with McCauley (150) brakes, but I can't find a difference between the two.
Powerful brakes on a taildragger can be a liability...

Agree with John. One of my AF assignments was in the UK. I joined a Tiger Moth flying club and was surprised to learn that the two TMs in the club did not have brakes, just a tail skid. We taxied very slowly.

By the way, I know for a fact that Clevelands are powerful enough to cause a prop strike on a paved taxiway.

I have Cleveland brakes and like them. Easier to maintain. Just respect their stopping ability.

I do have Clevelands on my 140. Very easy to maintain. Just two "O" rings in the whole system. I have heard that using the parking brake can cause problems due to unexpected lock ups. For that reason I don't use the PBrk.

Clevelands are the way to go. A straight forward STC install. You'll have all the brakes you'll ever want or need.

I have Clevelands. They are powerful but very smooth, you know exactly what your going to get when you press the pedals, no more no less.

Switch to Clevelands, keep your heals on the floor, and disable the parking brake.

I suppose it makes sense to ask "which one?"
