Elevator cable access

Post by 7698 »

I replaced the upper elevator cable at the last permit renewal. I have this time to replace the lower as I could not gain access to it by crawling down the fusalage to get to the pulley on the rear bulkhead.

Im looking to remove the fin and tailplane to gain access to the pulley. I would be interested in details of how to remove the fin and tailplane and any images that show the process.

Would it be a sensible thing to replace the trim tab cables at the same time or is it rare to do so?

Im also looking at the possibility of obtaining an elevator horn, but all the ones ive seen so far have one circular hole and one eliptical hole. Is this wear usual on these horns?

Pretty straight forward . Plan on rebuilding the trim jack screw, installing new hardware on everything you remove, and good time to install new anti chaffing material on fuse and other areas that need it.
