One thing you can try (besides another IA) is to get an A&P to fill out a 337 covering the installation. The FAA provides guidance on filling them out (AC 43.9-1F) and you want to be sure you either cover each point, or can explain why it isn't applicable. One hot section is the instructions for continued airworthiness. Also, any interaction between your mod and other installed mods, like wheel pants or extenders.
Where would find these "Instructions for Continued Airworthiness"?

Doing a search in FAA.gov only comes up with info for engines and props.
Nothing I feel is relivent for most applications.

Thanks,

Rick

You write them!

Get a copy of AC43-210. It's canceled, but it has a nice checklist for your ICA. Don't be afraid to write "None" if one of the items is not applicable.

Thanks John.

I have to wonder why, if it so important to have Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, that they deleted the ICA information when they revised the AC?

You would think that there would be an AC just for ICA data.

There are documentss dealing with the ICA, but they are very general and complex. (See Order 8110.54) The older AC is much more applicable to our situation.

Here's another one I found from Canada that's real helpful...

Not to beat a dead horse but, I’ve been in contact with the SLC fsdo for a bit now as I’m working on grove axle and 8.50x6 tire field approvals. Basically, he’s told me that its going to take months to get approved. I will update here to share my experience if and when it does get approved.

This is the kind of thing that led me to use a DER. Really wasn't that much money versus the multi-month process.

Yea, its pretty wild but it seems to be the boat we’re stuck in now. Either way, my tires are still on backorder so I’m not in a huge rush at this point. How much did it cost to go the DER route roughly? If I happen to get parts in hand before I get my field approvals back then thats probably the direction I will head as well.

The multi month process looks like it may stretch out to be more than a year of waiting. Any chance you have the info on the DER you used? Waiting around on this process just isn’t worth it to me anymore.
