Cessna 120-140 Association

Greetings: After 20 years with the C-85 in my '46 Cessna 140, the engine is tired and I am replacing it with an 0-200. There are two options for a motor mount: The C-140A mount with the lord mounts, or adaptors that make it possible to use the old C-85 mount.

The 140A mount. No altering the cowl and you utilize the Lord mounts.

I'm not aware that the adapters require a mod to the cowling - I thought the Lord mounts possibly move the 0-200 slightly forward and possibly cause rubbing on the cowling - then again, IIRC there are more than one source for the adapters. Suggest that if you are using Randy Thompsons STC that you speak with him and then go with his recommendation! Possibly he will jump in or send you a PM (possible sensitive in using page as a "commercial" for his STC - but he's certainly "paid his dues" here for so many years). FWIW

I am using Randy Thompson's STC for the O-200 installation.

His STC requires the use of the engine mount part number 0451111. According to the C140A parts manual, this mount is used with the C85-14F and C90-14F.

Field approval can be used to retain the OEM mount using adapters.

I have ordered up a Cessna P/N 0451 111 mount from AWI, which is the one for the C-85-14 / 0-200 with the lord mounts. I presume that this puts the engine in the same location that it is now, so the cowl is going to fit same as it does now.

Now on the hunt for the correct motor mount hardware. Hardly a trifle, 500 bucks on E-bay for used parts. The rubber donuts are about 20 dollars each x 8 .

This is going to sound to good to be true, but is!

Fresno Airparts sells a complete Lord Mount Assembly...everything needed to mount an 0-200 to the mount (except the bolts)...for $127.50. They ship it in a USPS small flat rate box...think it was $7.65.

Everything in that photo is what you get for $127.50. I called them to confirm it was the complete set. I ordered the set, and am looking at the set as I type this. It's an unbelievable price. I'm convinced that Fresno Airparts is the best kept secret in aviation!

You will have to purchase the engine mount bolts separately. I got mine from Aircraft Spruce.

If you're ordering rubber parts from Fresno, it might be a good idea to ask them how old the stuff is....
