Scratched Plexiglass

Post by rfrederick »

Just sharing my findings...
My 140 windshield has quite a bit of small scratches and a few deep ones. I tried some polish i got from my IA many years ago (Flitz???) but it didn't make much of a difference.
After doing some research on different aviation blogs I picked up Meguiar's Plastic Cleaner & Polish and tried it out earlier today.
The results seem promising but I will keep monitoring it in case it is just covering up the imperfections.

Here is before and after of one of the scratches in front of the pilot:

Thanks Rick, I have the same issue and was wondering what the best course of action would be. I will try the Meguiar's.

Blaine,
Here is the stuff I used:

Yesterday I started working on the pilot's side window and realize that the cloudiness was partly due to paint overspray:

Takes some time but eventually started to clear up. It's hard to see so I circled the area I worked so far:

I am very happy this is working out otherwise I would have been asking advice on changing out the plexi :)
