The studs should fit tight enough that they don't unscrew when you take the nuts off. They don't necessarily need to be oversized; standard size studs should fit that way when everything is new.

I learned that the nuts that hold the airbox on are supposed to be castle nuts. So, even if the studs are not tight in the carb body, the safety wire thru the castle nuts will keep everything together. The studs are drilled for the castle nuts. My engine had nylock nuts before I sent it in for OH. I think this may have been to make removal of the airbox easier (at annual) since my carb had the 2-piece venturi that needed inspection. Now that my carb has the latest 1-piece venturi, I don't think we will need to remove the airbox every year any more. So the extra work of safety wiring the 4 castle nuts will hopefully be a one time thing.
