Thanks, C120-140 Assn!

I am one of the new members that joined in 2019, and I want to express my appreciation to all involved with the Association, from the administrators to the newest member.

I must confess, I was a Barnstormers junkie for years, and not without some justification. I have a lot of aviation itches (5 experimentals in the hangar awaiting repairs!), and it provided a lot of aviation scratches.

I initially bought my damaged 1950 C140A as a donor for parts to do a Lowe tail wheel conversion on a 1964 C150D rebuilder. When I got them in the hangar side by side, it was apparent that repairing the 140 would be much less labor intensive than doing the conversion/rebuild on the 150, and I had a good O-200 to put in the 140 to boot! I owned a 1948 140 for several years and loved it. I repaired the damaged right gear box in it and then put 400 hours of great flying on her, including a AK-OK trip with my oldest son. He flew it 200 hours and now has a C-180 and RV-4. My other son had his first flying lessons in the 140 and now is flying his PA-12 (which has lots of STOL type mods) in Alaska.

Being a member of the Assn. has helped me stay focused on the 140, and provides a good avenue of information and entertainment without distracting me from the job at hand! Progress has been slow, as I am finishing up on some repairs on my son's RV-4.

So now, early each morning and just before hitting the sack, I come to our site to catch up on what's going on in our 120-140 world. I do hit Barnstormers (and Ebay) periodically, but only as a support site for getting my 140 in the air again.

All I need now is for you all to keep putting good stuff on here for guys like me who just don't know better than to be hooked on airplanes.

Thanks!
Steve H

Yes! I absolutely love being part of this family. So many have helped me in so many ways in my first year of ownership... I look forward to many many more... My goal is to fly her on August 19, 2047 on her 100th birthday. Bar any mishap, I see no reason she won't be going strong, shes done it for 73 years whats another 27? By then she should have an 0-200 in her too...

Always good to hear the Assoc. is the place to be for assistance and good conversation. The past and present board members take a lot of pride and time making this a worthy site and Assoc. We bought our 48 140 in 05 and joined in 06 ,went to our first convention in Dayton Ohio was hooked only missing one convention since. Great time great people and 77 120/140's on the line what more could one want? Would love to meet all our members at one BIG convention maybe Davenport?

Steve,

Thank you so much for posting. I love reading stories like yours. "Our aircraft" (under our temporary ownership care) have brought more good people together over the years than I can count. I've been extremely fortunate in that my father purchased the airplane that I now own way back in 1965. I got my first ride in it in 1966 and am still flying it. How great it that!

We show up because of the airplanes, we stay because of the people. Happy flying to you and your family!!!
