Bend your pitot tube one way or the other and watch the airspeeds change!

I set 2400 rpm and look at the density altitude for the day. I have the crank mod, mellinium cylinders, Marvel carb, and see 90 KTS IAS consistently. If it is above 75 F it's a little slower. But I'm not concerned, I'm just going for a ride. Maybe a burger or ice cream. Who cares?

Hey 1125, knots are what we tie in ropes. Try using miles per hour. You'll like that number better by 10.

Hey Klyde, how do you "bend your Pitot Tube one way and then the other"?
I thought about tying a string to the tube and extending it into the cockpit but that method will only bend the tube one way and not the other!

With a fresh rebuild on a C-85 in a light Cessna 140 with fabric wings, I clocked GPS ground speeds both ways on a 10 mile course. Almost a no wind day. Averaged 125MPH. Prop was a fixed pitch wooden Sensenich cruise prop. Climb, was however, terrible with that prop.

Coming back from Texas to Rhode Island, averaged 125MPH the whole way. Flew up high, Nice tailwind.

Full throttle generally speaking, it does 113-115 MPH. That with an Aeromatic prop on the C-85, fabric wings, 930LBS empty. 6x6 tires. I generally cruise at 2400 rpm, 24 inches of manifold pressure, and see 105-107MPH

I cruise at 1500 feet and 2300=2400 RPM and show 90 knots no wind on GPS and indicated 105 MPH.
