Wonder how many of these are out there that still have their original engines ?

Matching numbers is important on Classic Cars, but was never aware that it was sought after in Antique and Classic aircraft, have never seen it advertised as such. But interesting point to bring up.

Well, one thing's for sure: if you sell the engine separately, you can't tell anyone it is all original. Personally, I'd be a lot more interested in a complete airplane than an airframe with no engine. Not that many people that have a spare engine laying around.

That is the original, straight pipe exhaust. I think it might have been at the '47 model year they went to pancake mufflers, which were (are) nothing but trouble.

Have been cleaning (not polishing) off the light oxidation on the sheet metal. The skins are in really nice condition with no hail damage.
