BIG TEXAS Convention
Spent the last month on the 140 cleaning , prepping. and updating software for the flight. Then the Illinois WX said NO and the temps down there in the high 90's so we took the Honda Jet (Odyssey Mini Van). 3000 miles round trip and probably less in fuel but never as much fun as flying. Cindy has the National Park stamp book and also the Presidential Library book so we visited Bush senior and LBJ's places then got the LBJ home and the Missions in San Antonio. So there is a positive about driving to convention, no car rental and you go more places than the local destination airport. We had a great time seeing our members and meeting the new ones. The Hangar Hotel was so well decorated and the vintage music always playing was a special touch too. The board also retained the Vintage hangar for our meetings and a place to sit in AC. The real treat was the Friday evening Banquet , you had to imaging stepping back to the 20's or 30's with a 38 Cadillac in the entrance ,palm trees lit up as if in Miami , the bar roof made with palm leaves, and a stage with the Texas Playboys entertaining us. The boards request for attire was Texas Theme and I have to say there were some good looking members from states other than Texas. We really missed seeing the members that couldn't make it, understanding the so many reasons you didn't make it and hope to see you in the future! THANK YOU ALL that made the trip and a TEXAS Hats off to the devoted ones who put this all together!!!
