Wood propeller

Installed new propeller. I’m based at RNO (4400’) and wanted a climb prop. So far I like it. If anyone is considering going with wood here is my thoughts...
Pros
Cost (half the cost)
Looks
Reduction in engine vibrations
Cons
Need hanger or prop cover
No flying in rain
Extra maintenance (re torque of prop bolts required every 50 hours)
I have a serviceable McCauley CF 71-48 prop if anyone is interested.

Nice looking prop. As mentioned above, don't fly in the rain. Rain drops will act like bead blaster, and remove the surface coating down to bare wood. Also, get a prop cover if you tie down on the ramp. BTW, looks like your Brackett air filter assembly frame is installed upside down. Drain hole goes on the bottom. Enjoy the new prop.

Good catch! Actually, the filter is fine; the plane is upside down...

As far as flying in the rain, doesn't the brass on the leading edge take care of that?
I had a wood prop on an RV-6 with urethane on the leading edge and flew in rain a lot with no problem.

Must be one mean engine and prop combination. You've torque rolled while still in the hangar!

Nice hangar!
