Membership Renewal

Post by 8424 »

I just renewed my membership for my 3rd year as a part of the association. It has been a great 2 years!

I want to say a big THANKS for all the advice, parts, STC's and camaraderie offered from many on the forum. The rebuild of N95L was much easier with information available through this forum.

Maybe I'll get to meet some of you at a Convention, OSH or on a ramp in TimBukTu when you taxi in to tie down your 120/140 next to me. I'll be the one with a goofy grin on my face from getting to fly from here to there!

Steve, I AGREE the Assoc. has been warm and welcome to Cindy and I since 2005. Our first purchase was a part from Joy Warren on this site and we knew right away this was a great group. Our first convention was Dayton Oh. 2008 with Teri Hull and her husband Bob as host's since than we have missed only one in Alabama WX was really bad and we didn't think to drive? We have met wonderful people that are "Extended Family" now and always look forward to meeting new and visiting with all of them. ----------Thank you for reminding us why the Assoc. and this website are so valuable.-------- PS Sturgis SD will be a great time for meeting at convention or stop by the table at Sun & Fun or OSH. Hi Victor.

Sorry about the long delay in responding. I've been in the interior of Alaska for the last 10 weeks at our cabin and just got back yesterday evening. No phone, no internet, no stress! Unfortunately no C140 either! The river ice was flowing for a week (break-up) including all day last Sunday but cleared out over night so we were able to get to town and catch a flight out to Anchorage. Travel is only by snow machine or boat to and from the cabin, but couldn't use either one for 5 weeks!

I'm located most of the time near McAlester, OK, on the Flying H Airport (OK74), and occasionally 14 miles up the Takotna River from McGrath, AK. Our 140 stayed in OK. I would like to take this plane to AK, but don't know if it will work out. I bought a C150 in McGrath and flew it back in '89, and also bought a C140 in a village (Stony River) 100 river miles south south of McGrath in '96 and flew it back to the Flying H. Had to repair the left gear box and some skins on it. Both trips took 40 hours to cover the 4,000 miles. (I worked in McGrath 8 1/2 years, 3 for the FAA and 5 1/2 for the NWS.) It's a great trip, but you sure can't be in a hurry!

Now I'll have to stay up late several nights to catch up on all the stuff that has been taking place on the forum over the last 2 1/2 months!
