Today Was the Day

Post by a64pilot »

According to my Son, who knows such things, today 76 years ago the C-140 prototype made its first flight.
Imagine that for a Moment, the war with Japan was still on, first Nuke hadn’t even been tested yet

What a neat photo! ...interesting that it's with the tail on stand...surely they hadn't already experienced "loss of oil prime" @ start-up? (...OK, Ken Morris, we know now that raising the tail doesn't really work ;) )Seriously, those involved back then likely had no idea that these nifty little planes would still be flying in '21, some probably in better airworthiness now than then. Thanks for sharing, Jody and Son!
