Normally I would find this funny, but the thought of starting over at Feb 2020 is disconcerting to say the least

Mine arrived yesterday and as usual exceeds expectations. Thank you Blake and those of you who work behind the scenes on behalf of the entire Association.

Received my calendar yesterday and as usual it is an inspiration for me to go out and work on my 140 project. I have a couple of questions for David Freeland. What kind of an airplane is that lurking behind the fence and under your right wing? Also, was the picture taken at the Belmont Hotel in Kansas. The water tower sure looks like the one by the Hotel.

Hi Steve.

You're right, that is the water tower in Beaumont, KS right by the hotel.

That plane is a Beech 18 that was once owned by Barry Seal who was the guy who did work for the CIA and the drug cartels. Tom Cruise played Barry in the film American Made. How it got there, I have no idea.

Back in 1980-1984 my wife and I would fly from Ryan Field down in Tucson up to the Beaumont Hotel for lunch after church. I had the name wrong but not the water tower! At 190 mph it was only a half hour flight. This was in my 180 hp Thorp T-18 that I am still flying after 41 years. By the way, your 140 stole the show as far as I am concerned.

Got to thinking about the years and where we lived and realized I had made an error of about 1700 miles! We lived in Skiatook, OK when we would fly up to Beaumont, Kansas. When we lived in Tucson we would fly up to Sedona for lunch after church. Aren’t airplanes like a magic carpet?

We got our calendar on Thursday. As usual some great pics. We actually looked up names and N numbers to get a sense of where some pictures were from. We are especially interested in the December location, couldn’t find any info in membership book. This might be something to consider for future calendars-a short description of location. Carole
