August 19, '05, John C made the input about the special seat used for engines which had fuel pumps rather than depending on gravity. That information has been added to the newest version of the download file. John also mentioned that he has the Stromberg overhaul manual, needles, gasket kits, and seats (and knows what goes with what).

There are three types of needles for use in the Stromberg carburetors and two seats. The needle type and seat must match for proper operation.

The Neoprene needle was "magic" when introduced because it cured the leak problem found so often with the original stainless steel needle.

With elbow grease and some lapping compound (some unique), the stainless and the newest needle, the one made of Delrin, can be lapped to be leakless.

The usable combinations are noted.
